Description: deciduous shrub (10-15 ft.). Dainty clusters of white flowers precede glossy, red fruit (edible!). The fruit is eaten by thrushes, jays, bluebirds, flickers, grouse, robins, woodpeckers, finches, and waxwings. The spring azure butterfly is also associated with this plant. The leaves are big, beautiful and brilliant red in fall. Native to the north side of the Columbia gorge. Part sun/sun, regular water.
